Why Study Wisdom?

Posted by Robert Dean  |  POST A COMMENT (0 Comments)
In Prov 1:1-6, Solomon gives us six reasons why we should study the proverbs.  First, to attain wisdom and discipline.  Secondly, for understanding the words of life.  Thirdly, for acquiring a discipline and prudent life.  Fourthly, for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young.  Fifthly, that the wise listen and add to their learning and let the discerning get guidance.  Lastly, for understanding, proverbs, parables, saying and riddles of the wise.  Solomon closes off this passage saying the whole meaning of proverbs is, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."  Your promises today are:  John 15:7-8, Ps 110:3, Isaiah 1:19, Matt 12:50, John 7:17, Rom 8:27 and Phil 2:13.  Your insightful sayings are:  Forgiveness is an incredible gift, you can give yourself and others.  Wisdom is knowing to stop before you start.
