Purpose of trip:
I will be shadowing/volunteering in a small rural hospital in PNG. As a first year medical student I will not be particularly helpful clinically, but I will have the opportunity to get to know patients, staff, and how health care is delivered in a remote, resource limited area. I applied to medical school because of a desire to serve people with less access to health care whether that be preventative, interventional, or due to isolation or income.
